FOREST, Va. -- University of Lynchburg attacker McKenna Steinau has been named this week's Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon, April 13.

Steinau and the Hornets picked up two wins over the past week, taking down Guilford 22-4 on Wednesday, April 8, followed by a thrilling 14-13 victory over Shenandoah. Steinau played a critical role in both matchups for Lynchburg, helping propel the Hornets to victory.

In Lynchburg's matchup against the Quakers, Steinau recorded her eighth hat trick of the season and added two assists for five total points. All three of her goals came in the first half, while both assists were dished out in the fourth quarter.

Steinau continued her streak of multi-goal performances with a showing that tied her career high, netting six goals against Shenandoah. The Annapolis, Md. native scored twice in the first quarter and added two more in the second to pace the Hornets early. After being held scoreless for much of the second half, Steinau delivered in the clutch, scoring the game-winning goal with under 30 seconds remaining.

Steinau now ranks third in the ODAC in goals per game (3.75) and seventh in points per game (4.17).

Lynchburg returns to action Saturday, April 18, with a road contest against Washington and Lee in Lexington.
