Farmville, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's tennis team competed in its second match in as many days against Longwood University and fell, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon at the New Lancer Courts.
The Hornets' (7-6) match began with doubles play, and Longwood (11-5) secured the point with victories in all three matches.
Ricards Spaks and
Nicholas Pierreux fell 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Alexandre Gaboardi and
Daniel Gomes were defeated 6-1 at No. 2, and
Alvaro Quiroga Amaya and Patricio Zepeda dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 3.
In singles competition, Lynchburg competed across the lineup, including a three-set match at the top position.
Ricards Spaks pushed his opponent to three sets before falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 at No. 1 singles.
Nicholas Pierreux was defeated 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2, while
Alexandre Gaboardi fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.
Daniel Gomes dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles. At No. 5,
Alvaro Quiroga Amaya was defeated 6-1, 6-2, and
Sebastian Sierra fell 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 to close out the match .
Longwood secured the doubles point and all six singles matches to earn the 7-0 victory. Lynchburg's closest contest came at No. 1 singles, where the match extended to a third-set tiebreak before being decided.
It's ODAC play the rest of the way for the Hornets as they gear up for another road matchup against Shenandoah in Winchester, Va. on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
