Logue, Buckingham Fuel Lynchburg to Victory over Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, VA – Senior Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) and junior Lesley Buckingham (Herndon, VA/Herndon) scored five goals each to help the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team to an 18-7 victory over Bridgewater College on Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

Bridgewater took an early 1-0 lead in the match but Lynchburg would eventually outscore the Eagles 11-3 in the half. Logue scored two and Buckingham scored three in the first half while freshman Caroline Kilby (Street, MD/John Carroll School) netted back-to-back goals just over a minute apart.

Senior Kelsey Johnson (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright), senior Patty Sheahan (Lutherville, MD/St. Tomothy's), sophomore Sarah Shannon (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman) and sophomore Julie Will (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) all added goals in the first half for Lynchburg. Sheahan and Will both had two goals apiece on the afternoon.

LC added seven more goals in the second while holding Bridgewater to four goals leading to a final of 18-7. Shannon led the Hornets with five groundballs and had two caused turnovers.

Junior Christina Tran (Sterling, VA/Severn) made eight saves on the afternoon.

Caitlin Costello scored four goals and Taylor Chamberlain had three for Bridgewater (4-4/2-1 ODAC).

Lynchburg (6-3/2-0 ODAC) will host Roanoke College next Wednesday on Shellenberger Field at 7 pm.
