LC Women's Lax Defeats Randolph-Macon 19-7
ASHLAND, VA – With help from a 6-0 run in the first half, the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Randolph-Macon College 19-7 on Wednesday to remain perfect in Old Dominion Athletic (ODAC) play.
Junior Lesley Buckingham (Herndon, VA/Herndon) scored six goals, sophomore Kendall Adkin (New Milford, CT/New Milford) added five goals and senior Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) chipped in four goals en route to the victory. Logue also added four assists in the game.
Lynchburg fell behind 2-0 in the opening minutes until sophomore Sarah Shannon (Richmond, VA/Douglas Freeman) got the Hornets on the board at the 26:20 mark. Adkin scored at 17:00 to start a 6-0 run for Lynchburg and from then on, never relinquished the lead. The Hornets led 12-5 at halftime.
LC began the second half with five straight goals on their way to a 19-7 victory. Patty Sheahan (Lutherville, MD/St. Tomothy's) added two goals and three assists, won five draw controls and scooped five ground balls. Senior Kelsey Johnson (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) added a goal and an assist as well.
Erin Clare Cassidy led the Yellow Jackets (6-7/4-3 ODAC) with four goals in the game.
Junior goalie Christina Tran (Sterling, VA/Severn) made ten saves and grabbed six ground balls.
Lynchburg (10-3/6-0 ODAC) hosts Washington & Lee University on Saturday at 3:15 on Shellenberger Field.
