Andrew Wilfong Nets Five as LC Men's Lax Defeats Greensboro 21-5
LYNCHBURG, VA - Junior midfield Andrew Wilfong (Columbus, OH/Worthington Kilbourne ) scored five times Saturday night as the Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team posted a 21-5 victory over Greensboro College in a non-conference game. Dylan Hoff (Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown East) found the back of the net four times for the Hornets and added two assists in a wet and soggy evening on Shellenberger Field.
The Hornets scored five goals each in the first and second periods and had a 10-2 lead at halftime. LC put the game away with seven more tallies in the third. Matt Manzo (Leesburg, VA/Notre Dame Academy) found the back of the net three times scoring in the first, second and third period. Ben Sauer (Richmond, VA/Collegiate School) also had three assists in the contest.
Josh Davey (Owings Mills, MD/Owings Mills) and Charlie Oldendorp (Madison, NJ/Madison) each had two goals and an assist for LC. Kyle Sullivan (Wilton, CT/Wilton) had a goal and an assist and Chase Loetz (Arnold, MD/Severn), Derek Sweet (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury), Chris Hower (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) and Jason Long (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) each scored.
Jeff Schwartz (New City, NY/The Tabor Academy) won 15 of his 18 face-off attempts for LC. The Hornets out-shot the Pride 55-21 and converted on all three extra-man opportunities.
Bill Blakley scored twice and had an assist for Greensboro (4-8).
The Hornets (7-5) travel to Christopher Newport for a non-conference game Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
