Hornet Softball Sweeps Doubleheader at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Lynchburg College softball team swept both ends of a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at Methodist University, 7-0 and 10-3. The wins put the Hornets early-season record at 4-2.

Senior Hope Johnson picked up the win in the opener, working five innings and allowing just two hits and no walks. Elizabeth Fioretti threw two scoreless frames of relief. Amber Ingram belted a home run and went 2-4 with two runs and two stolen bases, and Amber Sulter doubled and walked.

Skylar Seals powered Lynchburg to victory in the second game, going 3-4 with a three-run home run and a double. Danielle Powell went 2-4 and added a stolen base and an RBI and Jessi Hall had two hits, including a triple, and also scored three times and stole two bags. Ingram pitched three innings of relief in the circle and gave up just one hit and no earned runs for the win. 

Methodist falls to 2-2.

LC is scheduled to host Ferrum College Tuesday in another non-conference twin bill at 1:30 p.m.
