#2 Salisbury Sweeps LC Softball
SALISBURY, MD – The Salisbury University softball team, ranked second in the nation this week, swept a non-conference doubleheader Sunday against visiting Lynchburg College by scores of 7-1 and 8-3.
SU scored in each of the first four innings to quickly forge a 5-0 lead and never looked back in the opener. Kim Dorsey belted two home runs and reached base safely all four times for the Sea Gulls and Rachel Johnson threw a complete-game four-hitter for the victory.
Amber Ingram had two hits for LC including a home run and Logan Walker doubled.
Lynchburg rallied from six runs down in the nightcap to cut the lead to 6-3 in the fourth frame, but Salisbury scored two more insurance runs and neither team would score after the fourth.
Junior Danielle Powell went 4-4 for the Hornets and Jessi Hall and Skylar Seals also had two hits each. Molly Simpson went 3-3 for SU (8-1) and Paige Knussman homered and had three RBI.
Lynchburg (10-5) returns home this week for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader against Randolph College Wednesday at 3 p.m. It is the start of a five-doubleheader home-stand stretching over eight days for LC.
