#10 W&L Defeats LC Women's Lacrosse 9-4
LYNCHBURG, VA – Olivia Sisson scored three times to lead the 10th-ranked Washington & Lee University women's lacrosse team to a 9-4 victory at Lynchburg College Saturday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
The Generals netted the first four goals of the game over a 19-minute span with different scorers for each. Lindsay Parker got the Hornets on the board with eight minutes remaining in the first half off a free position shot. Following Sisson's second score, Katherine Francis found the back of the net to make the score 5-2 entering intermission.
W&L scored the opening goal of the half before Caroline Carozza found the back of the net as Lynchburg cut the lead to three again. The Generals had back-to-back tallies to put the game out of reach.
Francis scored twice for LC and hit the post or crossbar with shots on a couple of occasions. Dorrie MacGregor had an assist and Hailey Bossert made eight saves in net. Francis also had three ground balls and two caused turnovers on the evening and MacGregor had two draw controls.
Melissa Coggins assisted on five of W&L's nine scores and Melissa Tardy had two goals. The Generals improve to 7-1 on the season and 4-0n in ODAC action.
Lynchburg (3-4/1-2) travels to Guilford College for an ODAC match Wednesday at 6 p.m.
