Katherine Francis Scores Four as LC Women's Lax Defeats Bridgewater 10-7
BRIDGEWATER, VA – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team used a strong second half to defeat Bridgewater College Saturday night 10-7 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Bridgewater led 4-2 midway through the first half before LC took control. Francis scored twice in a 4-0 run as the Hornets went ahead 6-4. The Eagles netted two tallies in the final minute to enter halftime tied at six all.
Francis began another four-goal run in the second half with two scores, followed by goals from Ryland Scott and Lindsay Parker to push the LC advantage to 10-6. BC added a goal and neither team scored in the final 10 minutes.
Caroline Carozza compiled two goals and four assists for Lynchburg, and Parker found the back of the net twice. Scott had a goal and an assist and Alexa Carey also scored. Hailey Bossert made nine saves in net for LC and Dorrie MacGregor corralled four draw controls. Scott added three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls.
Jenna Devilbiss scored twice for Bridgewater (5-4/2-1 ODAC) and Rachel Gruber made 11 saves.
Lynchburg (5-4/3-2 ODAC) hosts Hollins University Wednesday at 7 p.m.
