Roanoke Defeats LC Women's Lax 14-7

LYNCHBURG, VA – Claire Feeney posted five goals and three assists Wednesday night as the Roanoke College women's lacrosse team defeated Lynchburg College 14-7 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up.

The Maroons went ahead 7-0 in the first 21 minutes before LC broke through. LC netted back-to-back goals and the teams traded scores until intermission. Roanoke added to its lead after halftime to go up 11-4 but the Hornets climbed back to 11-6 before the Maroons pulled away.

Caroline Carozza posted two goals and an assist for LC while Abby Sard and Katie Seidel scored twice. Katherine Francis had a goal and an assist and Grace Finnerty contributed three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Darragh Evarts supported Feeney and the Roanoke offense with three goals and four assists. Meredith Bigelow had three goals, two assists and five draw controls for the Maroons (7-3/7-2 ODAC).

The Hornets (7-7/5-4 ODAC) host Sweet Briar College Saturday at 1 p.m. The program's five seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony on Senior Day.
