LC WLAX Rolls to 21-5 win against Sweet Briar
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Sweet Briar College 21-5 Saturday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup.
It was a historic day, as Sweet Briar was competing in its last game after 101 years of lacrosse at the College. The school is closing this summer.
The Hornets also honored their six seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
LC rattled off 12 first-half goals to open a 12-1 lead at intermission. The Vixens posted four scores after the break, but nine more Hornets tallies in the frame extended the lead to 17 at one point.
Lindsay Parker had three goals and an assist, while Katherine Francis also had three scores. Katie Seidel contributed two goals and two assists, and Alexa Carey, Shannon Brockley and Sidney Gleason each had two goals. Caroline Carozza handed out three assists with one goal, and Ryland Scott had a goal and two helpers. Grace Finnerty, Laura Meisner, Dorrie MacGregor, Kira Castle and Alison Truman also scored. MacGregor corralled four draw controls, and Hailey Bossert made eight stops in net.
Reba Gagne had two goals and two draw controls for Sweet Briar (5-12/2-8 ODAC). Emily Williams made eight saves.
The Hornets (8-7/6-4 ODAC) will take to the road next weekend for the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. Tournament brackets and match-ups will be released Wednesday evening at the conclusion of the three final conference regular-season games.
