LC Men Battle but Drop Close 6-3 Match at Southern Virginia
BUENA VISTA, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis team captured three singles victories Thursday at Southern Virginia University, but fell just short in the three doubles contest as SVU scored a 6-3 non-conference win.
Freshman Grady Allin won a tough three-set match at #2 singles 6-4, 4-6, 10-8, bouncing back from a 7-1 deficit to take the tiebreaker. Sophomore Andrew Link rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win at #3 singles, as did freshman Jordan Falinski at #4 6-0, 6-0. Will Nsoesie won eight games at #6 singles, but was outlasted 6-4, 6-4 by Tanner Heyland.
The Hornets came close to victory in each of the three doubles matches. Allin and junior Josh Johnson battled to a tough 8-6 decision, as did the #2 team of Link and Falinski. It took a tiebreaker to bring down the #3 team of freshman Adam Murphy and Nsoesie, 9-8 (5).
Lynchburg (0-8) returns to Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Saturday at Shenandoah University at 2 p.m.
