Hornet Women's Lacrosse Defeats Elizabethtown 9-6
Havre de Grace, MD – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team turned a 6-5 second-half deficit into an 9-8 win Monday as the Hornets defeated Elizabethtown College 9-6 in a non-conference contest played at Havre de Grace High School.
The Blue Jays held a 4-2 lead at the 17:45 mark of the first half. LC scored three of the next four goals, from Laura Meisner, Caroline Carozza and Kat Francis, to tie the game at five heading into intermission.
Addie Stang started the second half off with a goal for Elizabethtown, but the rest of the game belonged to Lynchburg. Maddie Koontz found the back of the net to tie the game at six and Carozza, Alexa Carey and Helen Boniface all notched scores in the final 15 minutes of play.
Carozza totaled two goals and three assists for Lynchburg, while Francis and Meisner each had two scores. Treva Tyson made nine stops in net and Rachel Henderson and Marissa Dadura had four groundballs apiece.
Stang finished with two goals and two assists for ETown (1-3) and Mary Nell Donahue had two tallies.
The Hornets (2-2) return home Saturday for another non-conference match-up against Illinois Wesleyan University at 4 p.m.
