Lynchburg Women's Lacrosse falls to Randolph-Macon 16-4
LYNCHBURG, VA— The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Randolph-Macon College 16-4 on Wednesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Hornets are now 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the ODAC.
R-MC got on the board first, but less than 10 minutes later Lynchburg's Haley Lochren found the back of the net to make the game 1-1. The Yellow Jackets went on a four-goal surge, until Caroline Carozza stopped it with nine minutes remaining in the half. Randolph-Macon would score three more before halftime to make it 9-2.
R-MC scored two more goals to start the second half, but Laura Meisner scored to stop the run. Macon scored one more goal before Maddie Koontz scored one. The Yellow Jackets would close out the game with four unanswered goals. Randolph-Macon held a 17-4 draw control advantage.
The Hornets had a balanced night with Lochren, Carozza, Meisner, and Koontz each having one goal. Rachel Henderson scooped up five groundballs, while Marissa Dadura, Kat Francis, and Treva Tyson each had two. Dadura also had four caused turnovers and Helen Boniface had two.
Alicia Hsieh led the Yellow Jackets (7-4/4-0 ODAC) with six goals to go along with three assists. Alyssa Chavez had two, while Alex Lightfoot, Laney Dee, Kelly Barney, Katie Russo, Shannon Jamieson, Jessie Cornbrooks, Jenelle Whitman, and Frankie Willing each had one. Lightfoot had a game-high four assists, while Russo added one. Susie Snee won five draw controls for R-MC, while Hsieh and Whitman each contributed four.
Lynchburg will return to action on Wednesday April 20, when they travel to Roanoke College for a 7 p.m. matchup.
