LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team scored five runs late in the game, but Guilford College posted an 11-6 win Tuesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.

The Quakers took a three-run lead in the top of the third as Josh Shepherd drilled a home-run over the left-field fence. The Hornets cut into the lead with a run in the fourth. Jonathan Munn led off the frame with a double, and later scored on an RBI groundout from Ryan Katona.

Joe Metts ripped a two-run double in the top of the fifth to give GC a 5-1 edge. Andrew Brann followed with an RBI single to push the lead to five and Grayson Tuttle lashed a three-run double to make it a 9-1 game. Rocco Wilcox delivered a single to send two more Quakers home and post eight runs in the inning.

Hornet Luke Rodgers drilled a two-run triple in the sixth and Katona followed with another run scoring groundout. Drew Taylor doubled to cut the lead to 11-5. Joe Tomasulo homered in the seventh for LC, and the Hornets loaded the bases with one out but couldn't score.

Rogers was 3-3 for Lynchburg and Tomasulo finished 3-5. Wesley Steelman threw an inning of scoreless relief and Shane Russell worked two frames, allowing just one hit.

Wilcox and Brann each had three hits for Guilford (17-20/6-14 ODAC).

The Hornets (9-25/5-13 ODAC) are back in action Wednesday with a non-conference game at home against Methodist University at 3:30 p.m.
