Lochren and Francis score four each as LC Women's Lax Defeats Guilford 16-13
LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Haley Lochren and senior Kat Francis each had four goals Wednesday as the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Guilford College 16-13 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
Lynchburg led 11-6 at halftime and Sarah Suter found the back of the net right after intermission. The Quakers scored five of the next six goals to cut the Hornet lead to 13-11 with just over 12 minutes to play. The Hornets netted three of the next four tallies to add cushion and held on for the victory.
Suter finished with three scores and Caroline Carozza had five assists. Laura Meisner and Alexa Carey each posted two goals and Maddie Koontz also scored. Lochren had one assist on the afternoon as well.
Amanda Dionne paced Guilford (7-9/5-4 ODAC) with four goals, while Marina Bailey had three. Carter MacLeod and Demming Carlow each had two tallies.
Koontz snared a game-high five draw controls, while Francis had four and Suter and Meisner each had three. Carey and Rachel Henderson caused two turnovers apiece.
The Hornets (10-5/6-2 ODAC) will host Shenandoah University Saturday at 2 p.m. in the final regular-season contest of the season. The six Hornet seniors will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony.
