Women's Lacrosse Defeats Shenandoah on Senior Day 9-8

Lynchburg, VA – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Shenandoah University 9-8 on Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. Lynchburg honored their six seniors in pregame ceremonies. LC ends the regular season with an 11-5 overall record and 7-2 in the ODAC.

Shenandoah took a four goal lead in the opening minutes of the game, but Lynchburg surged back behind goals from Haley Lochren, Kat Francis, and Alexa Carey. Francis scored with less than two minutes left in the first half to put Lynchburg within two goals going into halftime. LC scored the first three goals of the second half to take a 7-6 lead. The two teams traded goals at the end, but Lynchburg was able to hold off Shenandoah.

Lochren led the Hornet scoring with three goals, while Francis and Carey added two each. Maddie Koontz and Hannah Narvaez each found the back of the net once for LC. Caroline Carozza had a game-high three assists. Marissa Dadura and Francis each scooped up three groundballs and Sidney Gleason had two. Francis grabbed four draw controls and caused three turnovers, while Koontz and Lochren had two draw controls. Lynchburg held an 11-8 draw control advantage. Sarah Suter caused two turnovers and Treva Tyson made six saves in goal.

Shenandoah (5-12/3-6 ODAC) was led by Miranda Rudacille's four goals, and one assist. Annie McCorry found the back of the net twice for SU, while Brittany Arndt and Jackie Hemler had one. Abby Zorilla added two assists for Shenandoah. Arndt also had three groundballs and three caused turnovers. Jen Northam and Averi Rosena also had three groundballs apiece, and Hemler snared three draw controls.

Lynchburg will return to action on Tuesday, hosting an ODAC quarterfinal game. Complete game times, matchups and seedings will be released later this weekend.
