LC Women's Lax knocked out in ODAC Semifinals by R-MC

LEXINGTON, VA –
The third-seeded Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team was defeated 17-7 by #2 Randolph-Macon College in the semifinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Friday, hosted by Washington & Lee University.

Randolph-Macon opened the game ahead 5-1 over the first nine minutes, with two scores from Shannon Jamieson. Laura Meisner and Haley Lochren found the back of the net for LC over the next six minutes to cut the lead to 5-3.

R-MC scored the last two goals of the first half and first two of the second to assume a 9-3 advantage. Lynchburg netted three of the next four goals, two by Sidney Gleason and the third assisted by her, to make it a 10-6 game at the 22:09 mark. The Yellow Jackets rattled off seven of the game's last eight goals, three from Jessie Cornbrooks, to put the contest out of reach.

Gleason, Kat Francis and Lochren each had two goals for LC (12-6), while Meisner had one. Helen Boniface had two caused turnovers and Caroline Carozza had a team-high four ground balls.

Alicia Hsieh had five goals for Randolph-Macon (13-5), while Jamieson tallied four scores and two assists. Each team fired 28 shots, and R-MC keeper Allie Walker made 11 stops.

Francis ends her career with 162 goals, tied for fourth in school history with current R-MC assistant coach Kendall Adkin. Carozza, a senior attack, posted 89 career assists, second all-time and just four shy of the all-time mark. Each end their Hornet careers in the top 15 for all-time points in a career.

The Yellow Jackets advance to the finals Saturday at 4 p.m., facing off with W&L, a 17-8 semifinal winner over #4 Roanoke College earlier Friday.
