Lynchburg was unable to complete the comeback after two late goals at Guilford Wednesday night, falling to the Quakers 13-12.
Game Breakdown
- Lynchburg took an early 2-0 lead when junior Sarah Suter scored at the 28:55 mark followed by senior Laura Meisner at 24:16
- Guilford was able to get on the board with 20:30 still left in the half
- After assisting Suter on her first goal, junior Sidney Gleason scored on an unassisted goal to make it 3-1 at 20:02
- The Quakers and the Hornets exchanged four goals between 19:00 and 15:36 to put Lynchburg up 5-3, Lynchburg goals were by sophomore Alicia Sandoval and Meisner for her second of the night
- With 14:00 left in the half, Gleason netted her second goal of the game
- Lynchburg would add one more goal in the half from freshman Kelsi Trevisan while Guilford added two to give the Hornets a 7-5 advantage at half
- After a Guilford goal at 28:23, Sandoval scored her second goal of the game to put the Hornets back up by two goals
- The Quakers would go on a 5-0 run from 25:01 to 19:49 to go up 11-8
- Sandoval ended the run at 15:33 followed by junior Dorrie MacGregor at 14:13 to bring the Hornets within one
- Guilford would widen the deficit with two unanswered goals at 9:35 and 8:17 to go up 13-10
- MacGregor would add her second and third goals of the game with 51 and 13 seconds in an effort to will the Hornets back before falling 13-12
