Around the Horn
The Hornets split with the Royals in a Sunday afternoon double header that was centered around Colon Cancer Awarness. Lynchburg fought to get on the score board but fell to the Royals in game 1, losing 6-0. In the second game, the Hornets made a late comeback to win 4-3.
Game 1 Breakdown
- The Royals managed to get four runs in the second inning
- The Hornets were able to answer back in the second dinning with sophomore Taylor Mabry swinging for a double straight through the right side of the outfield
- In the top of the fifth inning, junior Conner English caught the Royals trying to steal second base, giving EMU their third out
- The Royals were able to add one run in the seventh inning to secure a 6-0 victory
Game 2 Breakdown
- EMU got on the board with three runs in the top of the first inning before with freshman Stephanie Hogan struck out a Royals batter to end the inning
- Mabry shrunk the deficit with a homerun in the bottom of the second inning
- In the third inning, senior Logan Walker slammed the ball out of the park for another homerun for the Hornets, bringing the score to 3-2
- The Hornets attacked again with a single by Walker which advanced her to second, and brought juniors Leslie Bourgeois and MacKenzie Mount home to givie the Hornets a 4-3 lead
- In the seventh inning, the Royals went three up and three down to give Lynchburg a 4-3 victory

Next up for the Lynchburg Hornets, will be a doubleheader at Shenandoah (9-17 overall, 4-8 ODAC) on Wednesday April 5th. The first game is set to start at 5pm
