The Hornets traveled to Shenandoah University Wednesday night for a double header where they swept Shenandoah 9-1 and 3-1.
Game 1 Breakdown
- In the second inning, senior Jessica Murphy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Sarah Commons
- Freshman Kayla Hugate reached on a fielder's choice to score senior Kayla St. John after a fielding error to make it 2-0
- Junior Skylar Dickens reached on another fielder's choice and another Shenandoah error allowed senior Lauren Smith to score to give Lynchburg a 3-0 lead
- Shenandoah would add a run in the second inning off a triple to make it 3-1
- After four scoreless innings from junior starting pitcher Conner English, the Hornets would add six runs in the seventh inning to give Lynchburg a 9-1 victory
- Dickens would finish the game with two RBIs
- Commons added two RBIs
- English would pitch a complete game, only allowing three hits and striking out 10 Shenandoah batters
Game 2 Breakdown
- Shenandoah would strike first in the opening inning to go up 1-0
- In the fourth inning, sophomore Brittany Coffey singled to left field to score Dickens
- Commons would add a single to score junior MacKenzie Mount to give Lynchburg a 2-1 lead
- The following inning, Lynchburg would add an insurance run off a Mount single that scored Dickens
- Freshman Stephanie Hogan would earn her eight win of the season after pitching a complete game while only allowing one run
