Women's Lacrosse Advances to ODAC Semifinals, Defeating Bridgewater 9-7

The Hornets defeated Bridgewater 9-7 to advance to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) behind 10 saves from junior Chelsea Shultis and 3-1 run in the second half to hold off a surge from the Eagles.

Game Breakdown

- Senior Alexa Carey made it 1-0 after 13 minutes of scoreless play

- Bridgewater would answer at 16:36

- Freshman Kelsi Trevisan scored at the 8:04 mark off an assist from senior Laura Meisner

- The Eagles would even the game at two with 6:12 left in the half

- Meisner was assisted by Trevisan at the 3:56 mark

- Meisner would go on to score on a free-position attempt at the 3:36 mark to make it 4-2

- Bridgewater would score on themselves to put Lynchburg up 5-2 with 2:31 left in the half

- Gleason would complete the 4-0 run when Gleason added her second goal of the game with Meisner picking up her second assist

- Bridgewater would open the second half up on a 4-0 run to tie the game at six

- The Hornets would end the run at the 13:44 mark when sophomore Alicia Sandoval found the back of the net

- Meisner dished out her third assist of the day when she fed junior Sarah Suter to make it 8-6

- At the 7:47 mark, Sandoval would score her second goal to put the Hornets up 9-6

- Bridgewater would come within two goals at the 4:40 mark but the Lynchburg defense stood tall to secure the 9-7 victory

- Shultis finished the game with 10 saves, she finished the year with 25 saves against the Eagles

- Sandoval added a pair of fourth-quarter goals

- The Hornets held a 27-18 advantage in ground balls
