Women's lacrosse falls at Albright

Reading, Pa. -- The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse suffered a tough 13-9 loss against the Lions of Albright Sunday afternoon on the road.

Junior attackman Alicia Sandoval (Montclair, Va.) led the Hornets with three shots finding the back of the net and one assist. Senior midfielder Dorrie MacGregor (Centreville, Md.) also had a good game, collecting six ground balls and two goals for the Hornets.

Sophie Bass from Albright had an impressive game with six draw control wins, three goals, three ground balls, and one assist.

Final: Albright 13, Lynchburg 9

Records: Lynchburg 1-5, Albright 5-3

Venue: Albright College, Shirk Stadium, Reading, Pa.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lions came out of the gate ready to play in the first half, gaining an early 5-1 lead. Lynchburg worked to close the lead with two goals apiece from Sandoval and MacGregor but had to end the half behind, 11-6.

  • Both defenses stepped it up during the second half, styming the scoring. Lynchburg managed to get three more goals in the half, and Sandoval completed the hat trick with 10:35 to go.

 

LOOKING AHEAD

The Hornets will return to Lynchburg to face the Bridgewater Eagles on Saturday, March 24 at 4:30 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
