Box Score Danville, Va. -- Junior T.C. Thacker recorded his fourth double-double of the season as the University of Lynchburg men's basketball team defeated Averett, 61-42, Wednesday evening on the road.
Thacker scored 13 points and recorded 12 boards, while three other Hornet starters added double-digit points. Junior Reggie Davis scored 10, fellow junior Tharon Suggs dropped 14, and senior guard Chance Greene added 12 of his own.
Lynchburg (7-4) led by as many as nine in the first half after a Davis 3-pointer put the Hornets ahead 25-16 with 2:59 left in the half. After a Lynchburg foul, and two Averett free throws, the Hornets went into the break leading, 25-18.
After intermission, Suggs hit a jumper at the 15:05 mark to extend the Hornets's lead to 12 putting them up 35-23. The Hornets held their lead for the rest of the contest, but it was Davis who put the finishing touches on the game as he threw down a thunderous dunk off of a baseball pass from sophomore Dow Dunton.
The Cougars' (5-4) 42 points are the fewest Lynchburg has allowed in a game since Johnson & Wales (N.C.) only managed 39 in a Jan. 30, 2011 loss to the Hornets.
The Lynchburg men's basketball team will be back in action at home on Wednesday, Jan. 1 with a New Year's Day contest as the Hornets take on the Pacers of William Peace University with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
