Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team was recognized as one of over 400 programs to receive the 2025-2026 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for its success in the classroom, while five Hornets were named to the NABC Honors Court.
The NABC presents the team awards annually to institutions across all divisions that maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout the year. Honors court distinctions are granted to athletes in their junior, senior or graduate seasons for maintaining a cumulative 3.2 GPA.
Eli Thomas, Jake Hart, Jayson Easton, Jesse Mitchell and Piercen Young each received honors court nominations for their academic accomplishments.
Thomas graduated in May with his Master of Public Health degree, while Jayson Easton and Piercen Young graduated with their bachelor's degrees in criminology and business administration, respectively. Junior Jake Hart is an exercise physiology major, while junior Jesse Mitchell studies business administration.
Over 2,300 athletes earned honors court recognition.
