Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Three Hornets tallied multi-goal games, but University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team couldn't keep up with 12th-ranked Mary Washington as the Eagles cruised to an 18-10 victory Saturday afternoon.
Lynchburg (0-1) got a pair of goals each from Danielle Hook, Kelsi Trevisan, and Leah Dumas. Hook and Trevisan added an assist apiece.
The Hornets leapt out to a 2-0 lead in the game's early going thanks to goals by Hook and Alla Daniel, but UMW (1-1) responded with a 6-2 run to get the game in hand. Lynchburg scored twice late in the first half to cut the deficit to 9-5 at halftime, but UMW opened the lead to as much as 10 late in the second.
The Eagles tallied eight goals on free-position shots, capitalizing on 30 fouls.
Lynchburg will search for the season's first win next Saturday, Feb. 29, at Pfeiffer at 3 p.m.
