Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg baseball needed 10 innings, but the Hornets topped Greensboro College 12-11 on April 6 in a game that was suspended due to darkness back on April 1.
The Hornets (13-8) entered the bottom of the eighth trailing 11-6 as the Pride (8-6) scored a combined nine runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take an 11-5 lead. After Kinston Carson tripled to center, sophomore Avery Neaves single to drive home Carson and start the Lynchburg rally. The Hornets scored five in the eighth to tie the game at 11-11 Greensboro pitching could not find the strike zone. Lynchburg scored all five runs on only two hits.
After both teams were sent down one-two-three in their respective halves of the ninth, the game was haulted due to darkness.
The contest was resumed on April 6 in the top of the tenth inning when Lynchburg pitching loaded the bases with one out. Hornets' senior Michael Reiskind came on in relief and got the final two outs of the visitor's half of the tenth.
In the bottom half, Lynchburg promptly loaded the bases with one out for junior Garrett Jackson who sent a fly ball down the right field line that stayed just inside fair territory before it dropped and bounced out of play to score Ty Gravett.
Lynchburg used 11 total pitchers in the contest as Reiskind earned the win and Greensboro's Jake Baldini was handed the loss.
