Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The No. 24-ranked University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team defeated Eastern Mennonite University, 22-1, at home Saturday afternoon in a game where 20 different Hornets scored.
On a day in which Lyncburg's women's lacrosse program celebrated Senior Day, they also recognized its class of 2020 whose season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Graduate students and members of that 2020 class, Kelsi Trevisan and Carly Sandler, led the Hornets' offense as each scored twice in the contest. Trevisan added an assist and Sandler had three helping Lynchburg to its fourth straight win.
The Hornets (8-3, 5-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) opened scoring in the first 32 seconds of the contest as senior Maysn Whitten found the back of the Royals' net on a free position shot. Lynchburg did not let up after that as the Hornets scored six times before the Royals (0-5, 0-5) could get a shot off. At the 16:22 mark, EMU got on the board with a goal from Julianna Ghally for its only goal of the contest.
At the half, Lynchburg led 19-1 and 17 seconds after the start of the second half, junior Dara Gregory scored Lynchburg's 20th goal of the contest on an assist by freshman Tori King. The Hornets went on to score twice more and take their fourth win in a row.
Lynchburg looks to extend its win streak to five when the Hornets take on Roanoke College on Wednesday, April 14 at home. First whistle is set for 7 p.m.
