Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The 25th-ranked University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team's four-game win streak came to an end Thursday afternoon with an 11-9 loss at the hands of visiting Roanoke College.
Lynchburg jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals from graduate student Kelsi Trevisan, but the Maroons battled back to take a 6-5 lead late in the first half. Senior Maysn Whitten scored with 2:10 left until halftime to send the teams into the half tied at 6.
A Carly Sandler goal put the Hornets (7-4, 4-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) back in front early in the second half, but RC scored the next three goals in a row and never looked back.
Trevisan led Lynchburg with four goals on four shots, but the Hornets' leading scorer collected her second yellow card at the 8:45 mark in the first half and had to sit the remainder of the game. Whitten and Sandler kept Lynchburg in it with two goals apiece -- Whitten added three assists and Sandler one -- and freshman Tori King had three draw controls and four ground balls. Julia Broughton made a season-high 10 saves in goal for Lynchburg.
Jenna Kuczo and Emerson Foster each had hat tricks for the Maroons (6-2, 3-1).
Lynchburg will look to get back in the win column with a non-conference game at Southern Virginia Saturday at noon.
