Box Score Buena Vista, Va. -- The 25th-ranked University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team rolled to victory on the road Saturday, topping Southern Virginia, 23-13, in non-conference action.
Nicki Santora led the Lynchburg offense with five goals to match her season high, while Kelsi Trevisan added four goals and two assists and Carly Sandler contributed three goals and two assists. Maysn Whitten collected eight draw controls, a goal, and an assist for the Hornets (8-4).
Lynchburg trailed 5-4 midway through the first half, but a goal by sophomore Alla Daniel triggered a 4-0 Hornets run. SVU responded with a pair of goals, but Trevisan scored with 2:36 before halftime to send the visitors into the locker room with a 9-7 lead.
After the Knights cut the deficit to a single goal early in the second half, Santora bookended an 8-2 Lynchburg run as the Hornets put the game out of reach. Freshman Payton Saville added to the Hornet lead with a pair of late goals for her first collegiate multi-goal game, and fellow freshman Caelinn Satterfield led the Lynchburg defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Natalie Rice scored five times to lead SVU (6-7).
Lynchburg will hit the road again Wednesday to return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Guilford.
