Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's tennis team rolled to a 6-3 victory over visiting Hampden-Sydney Sunday afternoon.
After falling behind 2-1 in doubles play, Lynchburg stormed back to dominate singles, winning at five of the six flights.
Colton Mullins won quickly at No. 1, 6-0, 6-1, and Nos. 2 and 3, Daniel Christian and Cooper Brewen, quickly followed with straight-sets wins of their own. At No. 4, Vincent Oliver carried a tough 6-0, 7-6 win to seal the match for the Hornets.
The fifth and sixth slots each went to a deciding third set, the Tigers winning at No. 5 and Lynchburg's Christian Kumar taking the point at No. 6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The Hornets' doubles win came at No. 2, where Christian and Brewen triumphed, 8-4.
The win snapped a five-match losing streak to the Tigers and helped Lynchburg improve to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play entering next Sunday's regular-season finale against Randolph-Macon. The Hornets are now in sole possession of fifth in the league standings.
