Box Score Winchester, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 22-12 loss at Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.
Leah Dumas and Kelsi Trevisan set the pace for Lynchburg with four goals each in the losing effort. Dumas added two draw controls, a ground ball, and a caused turnover, and Trevisan also assisted a goal and caused a turnover.
The visiting Hornets fell behind 2-0 in the early going and never could recover. Dumas scored the game's next goal in the fifth minute of play, but SU scored four of the next five and finished the first half on a 7-1 run to lead by seven, 14-7, at halftime.
The two Hornet teams traded goals in the opening minutes of the second, but Shenandoah put the game away late with a 5-1 run in final 12 minutes.
Shenandoah used a 21-14 advantage at the draw to control the game, and the home defense caused nine of Lynchburg's 14 turnovers.
Nicki Santora scored twice for Lynchburg, while Maysn Whitten and Payton Saville each scored one goal.
Lynchburg (9-5, 5-3 ODAC) will take the No. 4 seed into the upcoming conference tournament with the first round scheduled for Wednesday, April 28. The ODAC office will announce the pairings later this weekend.
