Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team cruised to a 28-4 win over fifth-seeded Guilford in the second round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday afternoon on Shellenberger Field.
The Hornets move on to Friday's semifinal round, where they will try to unseat top seed and No. 2 Washington and Lee.
Graduate students Carly Sandler and Kelsi Trevisan led the way for the Hornets Wednesday, scoring five goals each. Sandler added three assists and Trevisan tallied two assists, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.
The pair was among eight Hornets who logged multi-goal games -- Nicki Santora had a hat trick and an assist, while Elise Henderson, Dara Gregory, Tori King, Peyton Saville, and Maysn Whitten each scored twice. Leah Dumas had team-best seven draw controls to go along with a goal and an assist, and Erin Gardner led the defense with three ground balls.
Lynchburg (10-5) took control of the game early, scoring the first 13 goals, and led 19-1 at half.
The Lynchburg transition defense was stifling, holding the Quakers to just a 4-for-15 clearing mark. GC finishes the season with a 3-3 mark.
