Box Score Ashland, Va. -- The No. 24 ranked University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to top Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Randolph-Macon on the road Wednesday evening.
Graduate students Kelsi Trevisan and Carly Sandler led the way for the Hornets, combining for 18 points on the evening. Trevisan matched her career-high with six goals and also dished out four assists, while Sandler totaled three goals and five assists for Lynchburg, which has now won three straight games.
Lynchburg (6-3, 3-1 ODAC) got ahead 27 seconds into the contest when Sandler found Nicki Santora for a quick goal, but Randolph-Macon took control of the early going from there. The Yellow Jackets won seven straight draw controls to take a commanding 7-2 lead less than 6 minutes into the game.
Trailing 10-6 with 5 minutes left before halftime, Lynchburg punched back with four straight goals, the final one counting as Trevisan's fourth of the half with 1:38 remaining.
Lynchburg extended the run to six unanswered with the first two goals of the second half (both by Trevisan) and never again relinquished the lead.
Santora chipped in a hat trick for the Hornets, while Maysn Whitten and Leah Dumas each scored twice. Lynchburg's transition defense was stellar, holding the Yellow Jackets to just a 10-for-19 mark clearing the ball.
Lynchburg will look to extend its win streak to four and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday with the program's first-ever meeting with Eastern Mennonite. First whistle will sound at 1 p.m.
