Box Score Charlotte, N.C. -- University of Lynchburg's men's basketball team could not play the role of giant killer Wednesday evening, falling 107-72 on the road to NCAA Division I member Queens University of Charlotte.
Jordan Parham's season-high 15 points led the way for the Hornets, highlighted three double-digit Lynchburg scorers. Landon Sutton added 12 points, and Cuddah Savage chipped in 11 points and four assists.
Lynchburg hung around in the game's early going, falling behind 5-0 initially but making it a 12-10 ballgame 5 minutes in after a Miles Taylor basket. The Royals then uncorked runs of 9-0 and 7-0 midway through the first half to gain separation. It was a 54-31 Queens lead at halftime.
The Royals led the battle on the boards handily, 49-27, and were an impeccable 18-for-21 from the free-throw line in the game. Queens got a game-high 22 points off the bench from Chris Ashby.
Lynchburg will return to Queens' Curry Arena in late December for the Jay Bilas Classic, in which the Hornets will play TCNJ and Elmhurst. The Hornets (1-4) will return home in shorter order to begin Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Saturday at 2 p.m. against Eastern Mennonite.
