Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse dropped its first home game of the season Friday night, falling 17-6 to No. 17 York (Pa.).
Nicki Santora scored a hat trick for the Hornets in the loss. She opened the scoring 1:04 into play after taking a pass from Leah Dumas.
The Spartans responded with three-straight goals until Payton Saville stopped York's run with a goal at the 8:26 mark.
Both teams scored twice more in the first quarter. Dumas tallied a goal, and Santora notched her second of the evening, tying things up 4-4.
Mia Sullivan scored Lynchburg's only goal in the second quarter, and the Hornets went into halftime trailing 9-5.
The Hornets took five shots in the third quarter, but were held scoreless through 15 minutes in the second half. The Spartans tacked on six scores in the third and led 15-5.
Santora secured her third hat trick of the season and 10th in a Lynchburg uniform during the final period of play. However, York closed out the game with two more goals and took down Lynchburg, 17-6.
Patricia Rogers made 13 saves in the loss, the most in her freshman campaign. She made the most saves by a Lynchburg goalie since Emmy Yarmy stopped 15 on May 1, 2019.
The Hornets head down to Haines City, Fla. for their next two games beginning with a matchup against Denison at 11 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 14.
