Box Score 2 Salisbury, Md. -- University of Lynchburg's softball team dropped a pair of ballgames to No. 2-ranked Salisbury Friday afternoon by 5-0 and 8-0 results.
Sea Gulls' ace Lindsay Windsor no-hit the Hornets in the opener and faced the minimum as Lynchburg's only baserunner, freshman Carly Hudnall, reached on an error to lead off the fourth inning but was erased on a double play.
Meanwhile, Salisbury jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added single runs in the third and sixth to cinch the victory.
Lynchburg's offense fared better in the second game, collecting four hits. Hudnall led off the nightcap with a single and advanced to third, but an inning-ending groundout negated the threat. Then the Sea Gulls erupted for seven runs in the top of the first, ripping three doubles as part of the rally.
The Hornets earned a leadoff walk by Ruby Stewart in the second as well but were unable to bring the freshman around. Lynchburg also got runners aboard in the third, fifth, and sixth innings to no avail.
Salisbury finally broke through again in the bottom of the sixth, ending the game by the eight-run rule on Abby Mace's RBI single with no out.
The Hornets (9-9) will stay in Salisbury for a pair of Saturday ballgames as part of the Sea Gull Classic, taking on Susquehanna and Marymount starting at 11 a.m. at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex.
