Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's tennis dropped a second-straight home match Sunday afternoon, falling 6-3 to Hampden-Sydney.
The Tigers swept doubles play despite some close matches. Carter McCleary and Andrew Freeman lost in a tiebreaker at No. 2, and Levi Vigdorchik and Colton Mullins lost 5-8. At the third flight, Christian Kumar and Cooper Brewen fell 4-8.
Freeman won his second singles match of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3. Vigdorchik, the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference player of the week, won his ninth singles match of the season with a 6-5, 7-5 effort at the first flight.
After winning the first set and dropping the second at the sixth flight, Kumar grabbed a victory with a 10-7 win in the tiebreaker.
Mullins lost out at the second flight, McCleary lost a close one at No. 4, and Brewen fell 3-6, 0-6 at No. 5.
Despite splitting in singles action, the Hornets fell 6-3 to the Tigers.
The Hornets (4-8, 2-5 ODAC) play their final home match of the season on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 1 p.m. against Washington and Lee.
