Box Score Lexington, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team dropped its Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener Saturday on the road, falling 21-2 to No. 3-ranked Washington and Lee.
Leah Dumas and Anna Snoddy scored goals for the Hornets, while Micah Slacum led the defense with three caused turnovers.
W&L rushed out to a 10-0 lead before Dumas scored with 6:24 remaining in the second quarter to break up the shutout. The Generals carried an 11-1 lead into halftime and continued their strong play, running up an 11-0 scoring run until Snoddy scored a free-position goal with 2:30 left in the game.
Julia Broughton made five saves in goal for Lynchburg in the second half, and Alla Daniel totaled a team-best five draw controls.
The Generals were dominant at the draw, winning 19 of the 27 contests at midfield to control possession throughout.
The Hornets (2-7, 0-1 ODAC) will hit the road again Wednesday for Salem and a rematch with rival Roanoke College. The Maroons won a non-conference affair March 24, 10-8. Wednesday's game will count in the ODAC standings.
