Box Score Fredericksburg, Va. -- Nicki Santora had a hat trick and Alla Daniel had five draw controls, but University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team fell Friday, 14-7 at Mary Washington, on the road in the Hornets' regular-season finale.
UMW got on the board early, but Lynchburg countered right back with a Leah Dumas goal at the 11:15 mark in the first. After another Eagles goal, Daniel scored on a free-position shot, and the two teams finished the first quarter tied at 2-2.
Mary Washington started the second on a 4-0 run, but Hornet goals by Dara Gregory and Santora pulled Lynchburg back within two at the half. Lynchburg kept the deficit at three at the end of the third, but the Eagles pulled away with a 5-1 run in the fourth to defend the lead.
Freshman goalie Patricia Rogers made 14 saves in net for the Hornets.
Lynchburg will now await the weekend's results to learn its placement in the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. The field will be announced Saturday at the conclusion of conference play.
