Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Leah Dumas scored a game-high four goals to lead the fourth-seeded University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 home win over No. 5-seeded Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday in the second round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament.
With the game tied at 2-2 in the early going, Dumas found the back of the net for the second time to kick off a run of nine unanswered goals and put the Hornets in control. Lynchburg led 11-2 at the half behind Dumas' hat trick and two goals and two assists by Alla Daniel in the game's first 30 minutes.
Lynchburg continued to extend the lead in the second half. Nicki Santora and Reagan Bednar both scored twice after intermission, and Michelle Perkins' goal in the final 10 seconds brought the tally to its final standing.
Daniel finished the game with three goals, three assists, and five draw controls; Santora had a hat trick; and Dara Gregory had a goal and three assists for Lynchburg.
Madison Knight and Meredith Bornholdt highlighted the defensive effort with two caused turnovers and a ground ball apiece. Patricia Rogers made seven saves in goal, her third effort of the season with a save percentage over 60 percent.
With the win, the Hornets advance to Saturday's ODAC tournament semifinals and a 1 p.m. matchup with top-seeded and No. 5-ranked Washington and Lee in Lexington.
