Box Score Lexington, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's lacrosse team saw its season end Saturday in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament semifinals, suffering a 15-6 loss to No. 5-ranked Washington and Lee.
Nicki Santora led the way for the Hornets, nabbing a hat trick in her final game for Lynchburg, and Leah Dumas had a goal and two assists.
The top-seeded Generals leapt out to a 6-0 lead in the early going before Libby Kennedy got Lynchburg on the board at the 9:44 mark in the second period on a Santora assist. Dumas then scored on a free-position shot to cut the deficit to 6-2, but W&L scored twice before halftime to retake control of the game.
Washington and Lee extended its lead with the first two goals of the third before Dumas assisted a Santora goal at 8:17 to cut into the advantage. The Generals then put the game away with five more unanswered goals and led by a 15-3 margin early in the fourth.
Lynchburg rallied for three scores in the game's final 8 minutes as Tori King found the net once and Santora scored her final two.
Alla Daniel had a team-best four draw controls to go with an assist for the Hornets, while Madison Knight led the defensive unit with three ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Hornets finish the 2022 campaign with a 7-11 record and a 4-3 mark in ODAC play and will now await the announcement of postseason awards, beginning with the All-ODAC honors in the early part of next week.
