LaGrange, Ga. -- University of Lynchburg beach volleyball freshmen Kailey Keough and Jordan Palmer won both their matches Saturday as the Hornets beat LaGrange 4-1 and lost to Huntington 3-2.
Playing at the top court, Keough and Palmer beat their LaGrange opponents 21-13, 21-12 and beat their Huntington foes 21-18, 21-19.
Mady Shirey teamed up with SJ Yanz for a dominant win in the LaGrange match. Yanz and Shirey only allowed 16 points in total as the second pairing. Mackenzie Ingrassia and Molly Ballew won at No. 4 to secure the win for Lynchburg against LaGrange for a second-straight day.
After beating the Panthers 4-1, Lynchburg looked to flip the script from Friday against Huntington.
The Hornets earned points at the top two pairings with Keough and Palmer winning at No. 1, and Yanz and Shirey winning 21-17, 21-10 at No. 2. The Hawks grabbed points in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 5.
Ballew and Ingrassia took their opponents to three sets at the fourth court, but lost 15-9 in the final frame.
The Hornets (3-5) return to action in Laurinburg, N.C. at St. Andrew's University beginning Friday, March 3.
