Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg becach volleyball team hosted a trimatch at home Saturday and beat Richard Bland.
The Hornets defeated the Statesmen 4-1 but fell to Stevenson by the same score.
SJ Yanz and Mady Shirey won their match at the top court. The pair of freshmen dropped the first set but rebounded with a 21-19 win in the second and a 15-9 W in the third.
Mackenzie Ingrassia and Amanda Trapp won at No. 3. Margo Fox and Parker Lynch won in the third set with two close wins in the first and third sets on the fourth court.
Molly Ballew and Landon Spotts won won 21-15, 21-19 at No. 5 to wrap up the victory over Richard Bland.
While Lynchburg fell to the defending-national champion Mustangs in the second match of the day, Jordan Palmer and Kailey Keough earned a win 21-15, 21-18 at No. 3.
Lynchburg (8-13) plays two more matches at home on Sunday against Bryant & Stratton at 2:30 p.m. and Stevenson at 4 p.m.
