Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball team earned a win over Bryant & Stratton Sunday but fell to Richard Bland.
Lynchburg swept Bryant & Stratton and loss a close one against the Statesmen 3-2.
Against Bryant & Stratton, Mady Shirey and SJ Yanz won 21-15, 21-14 at the first court.
Kailey Keough and Jordan Palmer won handily at No. 2. Amanda Trapp and Mackenzie Ingrassia played a thriller on the third court. They won the first set 23-21 but dropped the second. The freshmen bounced back with a 15-10 win in the third.
Margo Fox and Parker Lynch secured a win at No. 4, and the Hornets won the fifth court by default.
The Hornets were locked in a tight battle against Richard Bland during their second match of the day.
Molly Ballew and Landon Spotts kicked off the match with a win at No. 5. Keough and Palmer trounced their opponents on the second court 21-4, 21-9.
In the swing match at the top court, Shirey and Yanz started off strong with a 21-18 win. However, Richard Bland's top pairing won the next two sets and secured the win for the visitors.
The Hornets (9-14) square off with Richard Bland for a fifth time on Tuesday at 12 p.m. The Hornets also host Catawba at 4 p.m.
