Box Score 2 Danville, Va. -- The University of Lyncburg softball team shut out Averett over two games Monday afternoon.
Emily Charlton pitched a complete-game shutout in Game 1, and Olivia Herman drove in five runs in Game 2.
Karle Cundiff doubled in the 1st inning and tagged up to third on a fly ball from Sarah Watts. After Sophie Tully drove Cundiff home, Lynchburg turned to Charlton to protect the one-run lead.
The lefty baffled Averett batters all game, shutting out the Cougars over all seven frames. The Cougars only reached second base one time as Charlton spun her second complete-game shutout of the season.
Kailey Dorcsis, Logan Curtis, and Angela Sperandeo combined to shut out Averett following suit from Game 1, but Lynchburg came alive at the dish, pouring on 11 runs.
Herman led the way going 3-3 with a two-RBI double and a three-RBI triple. Watts also had a multihit game, and Tully drove in her second and third runs of the double-header.
Lynchburg (23-15, 11-7 ODAC) wraps up the regular season on the road at Roanoke on Saturday, April 29.
