Box Score 2 Salem, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg softball team fell to Roanoke Saturday.
The Maroons swept the Hornets 8-5 and 9-1. Game 2 concluded in five innings.
The Hornets quickly faced a deficit as the Maroons put up seven runs in the first three frames.
Kaleigh Hackett, who led the team with three RBI, drove in her first run in the 3rd.
The Hornets attempted a dramtic comeback in the 7th beginning with an Alyssa Talayumptewa RBI. Sarah Watts also scored on an error on the play.
Hackett drove in two more with two outs, but Roanoke extinguished the threat and ended the game in the next AB.
Watts opened Game 2 with an RBI double, but that was all the Hornets could scratch across as they fell in the regular-season finale.
