Box Score Winchester, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team fell to Shenandoah on the road Friday evening.
Sydney Dumas scored a hat trick in the 14-8 conference loss.
Despite a pair of goals from Dumas and Alla Daniel in the first, the Hornets faced a two goal deficit after the opening quarter.
Dumas scored the next two goals for Lynchburg and tied the game 4-4. Patricia Rogers made four saves in the period to help Lynchburg climb back into the game.
McKenna Steinau gave Lynchburg the lead. She took a pass from Payton Saville and found the back of the net for the go-ahead score with 2:08 left in the half. However, the Lynchburg advantage did not last long. Shenandoah tied things up 1:12 before halftime.
Shenandoah scored twice early on in the third, but Lynchburg had an answer both times. Tori King and Saville scored the equalizers for Lynchburg both on free-position shots.
However, Shenandoah eventually pulled away. The home team outscored Lynchburg 7-1 over the last 20 minutes of action and won 14-8.
Neely Morris led the team with six draw controls, and Rogers made a season-high 10 saves.
Lynchburg (4-7, 2-1 ODAC) hosts Roanoke at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.
