Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's lacrosse team saw its season end in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference quarterfinals at the hands of Randolph-Macon Tuesday.
In a game featuring four ties and three lead changes, Randolph-Macon persevered for a 16-15 victory and advanced to the conference semifinals.
Powered by a pair of goals from both McKenna Steinau and Payton Saville and four first quarter saves from Patricia Rogers, the Hornets went up 6-0 in the opening 15 minutes.
However, Randolph-Macon tied the game up in the second with a 7-1 run. Libby Kennedy scored Lynchburg's lone goal during the Yellow Jackets' comeback. She also scored to close out the first half with her third hat trick of the season and give Lynchburg a 7-8 lead on a free-position shot.
Alla Daniel and McKenna Steinau joined the hat trick party in the third as the Hornets re-extended their lead to 14-9. Steinau scored a player-up goal with 16 seconds left in the third, then Daniel secured a late draw control and raced down the field and scored with two seconds remaining. Daniel tallied her second four goal game of the season.
Daniel reached a new-career high in goals with her fifth of the game in the fourth. However, that was the only score for the Hornets as the Yellow Jackets outscored Lynchburg 7-1 in the final period. R-MC tied the game up with 2:42 left on a player-up chance and took the lead with 2:06 left.
Daniel won her eighth draw control of the game after R-MC's go-ahead score, and the Hornets earned a good look at the equalizer with a free-position chance. Steinau's eight-meter shot was saved, and Randolph-Macon held on for the win.
Rogers finished with 12 saves, and Caelinn Satterfield led the way with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
