Nashville, Tenn -- The Lynchburg Hornets picked up a win in their first game of the Music City Classic in a 92-74 victory over Mount Aloysius.
Sophomore guard Michael Gray led the way for Lynchburg with a game-high 25 points, shooting four-for-ten behind the three-point line. This mark set a new career high for the Upper Marlboro, Md. native. Five Hornets finished the afternoon with double-digit points. Jonathan Foust set a new season-high with 15 points while also tallying six rebounds, four of which came on the offensive end.
Jake Hart orchestrated the Lynchburg offensive throughout the contest, collecting eight of the team's 19 total assists. This mark set a new career high for the sophomore guard, as the Hornets had their third-highest assist total of the year.
Lynchburg's ability to control the glass on both ends helped them pull away. The Hornets out-rebounded Mount Aloysius 47-29 which included 17 offensive rebounds. This was the third consecutive game with 17+ offensive rebounds for Lynchburg. The Hornets also capitalized on their second chances, scoring 26 points following offensive rebounds.
The Hornets have one final game remaining at the Music City Classic, taking the hardwood against Marietta tomorrow, Dec. 30, at noon. This will be the final non-conference game of the regular season for the Hornets.
